Campaigns in the Neck?

Apr 11, 2017 | | Say something

We’ve been running a crowdfunding campaign, and it has stalled, so we took advice and began . . . another campaign to support the first!

Our Thunderclap page, choose your support, FB, Twitter or Tumblr.

By the way, big thanks to the first thirteen folk to give us their social media support via Thunderclap!

So, how does Thunderclap work? Well, it is kind of like a social media flash-mob platform!

What should happen is that in about 18 days (depending on which continent you reside) your chosen social media will send a message out on behalf of Nine Dragons, promoting out current Dreams.Build campaign.

Hopefully our supporters combined social reach will get a few more people interested in supporting Honour 2 financially (because, as you can see, we have a way to go yet on that front).

It is definitely a struggle to get backing for an independent RPG, it is a new system, from a new company and for some folk that is just too much new.  So why do we do it?  Why not fall back on producing third party supplements for the “big boys”, D&D, Cthulhu, Shadowrun?  Well, we might yet do that, but that’s not the dream!  The dream is a really good, playable, original Hong Kong suffused RPG.  And if you don’t follow your dreams, well, you might as well just watch telly!

I’d also like to give a shout out to Dreams.Build, the crowd-funding platform we have chosen to go with for the Honour 2 campaign.  Dakota Gallimore (best name ever?), who is the driving force behind Dreams.Build is a very special individual. Dakota sees that these crowdfunding platforms can be so much more than just another online store.  He dreams (and it all gets a bit meta) of a platform that is as much a creative community as it is an aggregator of financial resources.  He dreams of a platform that one joins as a creator and then stays with as a mentor, a collaborator and a friend.

That’s the sort of platform we want to be involved with.  It strikes me that that’s the sort of platform the whole indie RPG community should be supporting and engaging with.

If you have any thoughts on crowdfunding, RPGs (table top) thunder, Liverpool FC, Honour or life, please do leave a comment.
